Who Inspires Us?

Nathan Myer's Uncle Mark Harrington
We became close personal friends with many similar views on sports, jobs, worldly topics. We traveled together on a whim and would go to sporting events, Vegas, play poker and double pinochle together, make fun of each other, make fun of his siblings and genuinely just LAUGH all the time around one another.

Aria Ma's Grandfather
He is the reason why I fell in love with nature. He's a very calm, collected, and level-headed person. When you think of reaching Nirvana, you would think of him. He's very clever and funny and when I was younger, I wanted to be just like him. He would buy me those build-your-own wood birdhouse or bookcase from Lowes when I was 6 so I could build stuff like him. I joke with him like I can with no one else in my family and is the only person I know loves me 10000000% unconditionally.

Abbe Wingen's Mother
Kari is my mother. Someone who has worked her entire life to care for others, putting their needs and priorities first. Doing so has kept her in poorer health keeping her from traveling and seeing the world as she had once desired. She has given so much of her life prioritizing the happiness of others she deserves more magical moments of her own.

Francesca Dell'olio's Nana
My nana was a third parent to me growing up, and played an instrumental role in the person I am today. I’ve never met anyone as kind and as strong as her. She went through so much hardship in her life and was always the sweetest, warmest person, someone everyone felt drawn to talk to and find comfort with. I find pieces of her in my life in many ways today. Whenever I’m having a hard time and I think of her, it always softens me and helps me find peace.

Nick Abruzzo's Grandmother
She was my grandma and always had all her grandchildren's best interest in mind. She was hardworking, very independent, and could figure out how to do almost anything on her own if she wanted. Kind, caring, compassionate and generous. I was lucky to already be working at Rendever when Leigh Anne and I got married but my grandmother wouldn't be able to attend the wedding due to health issues. My brother-in-law recorded the ceremony with a 360 camera and I uploaded that file to my family account. A few days after the wedding we took a headset to my grandmother so she could feel like she was a part of the wedding and she loved every minute of the video and being able to experience it in a way that let her feel like she was really there.

Erin Naffziger's Brother
He was my older brother and has always been a huge influence in my life. We had similar interests and the ability to understand each other with a quick glance. He was witty and sarcastic, always making people laugh or diffusing a tense situation. He had the biggest heart, even if he tried to hide it sometimes.

Stephanie Randall's Previous Neighbor
She is a 94 year old dream that embodies "Joie de Vivre." She was my old neighbor and I still visit her regularly to fix her TV, make a cheat sheet on how to check her voicemail, borrow a book she knows I'll like, play Rummikub, and catch up over a cup of coffee. Every time I leave, I'm beaming from ear to ear. Her joy is so infectious.

David Stoller's Stepfather
This is a person who entered my life when I was 12 years old and provided me with another paternal figure to look up to. Barry is a person who showed me how to treat people with respect, take care of your family, have a sense of humor, and make the people around you happy. Small things, but important things, like holding the door for others, putting family first, bringing flowers to your wife, and so much more. He taught me how to treat and take care of family, and I feel that every day now that I have a family of my own. Today, he's recovering from ankle replacement surgery. Being there for him while he recovers, despite having some distractions of my own at home, is a way to live the values he taught me when I was growing up.

Ben Vaigneur's Grandfather
My grandfather was an amazing guy. He served our country, played in a rock band, was a shrimp boat captain, a cowboy, a lover, a drinker, and an all-time fisherman. The way he loved wasn't with gifts or by coddling me, it was from a young age preparing me for life, and how to make the most of it through making every day a party. We said goodbye a few years ago but I always find him in the places I go, at the end of a fishing rod, bottom of a bottle, and through music.

Joyce Huang's Grandmother
Ever since I was a child, I shared an incredibly close bond with my grandmother, and during her final stage of life, I was one of her primary caregivers. She always said that she enjoyed chatting with me and said I have some interesting perspectives. I was also inspired by how she was so strong, brilliant, and responsible for her whole life. The regrets of not expressing my love more and spending more time with her remain till now.

Mat MacKenzie's Mom
She's my mom. My parents raised me and my brother in Maryland and our family has gotten back together for almost every Christmas since then. While we have not visited in person for a few years we keep in touch by email and phone.

Emma Jane Caldwell's Dad
I picked my dad Tom because he is the best. I admire his kindness and generosity, and he's super funny! His optimism is unbeatable~ I'm proud to be his daughter.

Alex Maugeri's Friend
Justin has been my friend since elementary school. There has been few others in my life that have believed in me like him, and despite being such an busy person, and not living together in the same city since we were 18, also found a way to make me feel he was living next door. Anyone who meets him knows immediately how listened to he makes you feel, and I feel truly lucky to have him in my life.

Milton Kennedy Varanda's Mother
Well, this person is my mother and my mom has taught me everything I need to know and was/is the perfect role model for me! Growing up, I really respected how she awoke everyday at 4am to get ready for work, make us breakfast, and commute that I emulated this from the 6th-11th grade and it really helped me a lot with being responsible for my sister in the mornings. Along with that, she just taught me pretty much all of my manners and has shaped me to being who I am today. She's always supported everything I've done, is really lovely, and is the big reason why I'm obsessed with cats... she has nine!!!

Alex Sussman's Teacher
Patrick was a teacher at Usdan Summer Camp in Long Island. I enrolled in his brand new class of computer programming. He was and still is one of my favorite mentors, teaching me my first pieces of 3D modeling, programming, game art. I ended up working with him for a bit as assistant professor, and now and then he invites me to lecture at his classes. We're close friends to this day and we keep in touch about the cool tech things happening daily.

Jake Pechauer's Grandpa
Taught me the importance of education and was always the person I was most excited to show my report card too. I'll also never forget that in 8th grade we had a state basketball tournament which was located 5 hours away where I lived in Green Bay. Long story short... my grandparents drove the entire way, put themselves up in a hotel, and surprised me with their presence supporting me and our team on the way to a state championship.

Dr. Jennifer Stamp's Grandparents
I spent probably half of my childhood with my grandparents and they both were my main mentors in life. They embodied intelligence, grit, passion, teamwork, and flexibility, and together they built a multi-million dollar dairy farm industry from a couple of cows. They were each incredibly wise. Pappy taught me about human and animal behavior, business instincts, and how to approach life, spirituality, and society. Granny taught me how to be taken seriously as an intelligent female that enjoyed making things happen, how to run and grow a business, how to be tender-hearted when required, and how to have fun. I miss them immensely.

Andrew Hurd's Mom
She's my mom! Words can't describe how much of a warrior she is. As a single parent, she supported me and my sister wholeheartedly, all at the same time as juggling her full time career. She instilled the best values in us and always pushed us to our fullest potential while also bragging alllll the time about how we are her super heroes. Truly, she sacrificed her life for us and made our childhood special. I can't thank her enough for this.

Franchesca Davis' Dad
They are my original superman. Because of my dad, I was able to experience new travels around the world.

Madelyn Smith's Dad
My dad has always shown up for me and been my biggest supporter. He is my favorite person to share a meal with and travel with. The daily hard work my father does to stay up on his physical, emotional and social well-being is so admirable. He is one of my best friend

Lexie Slotterback's Grandpap
My grandpap was just the best. He was the funniest person ever and had the BEST stories. To know Charlie was to love Charlie — and it seemed like he knew everybody! He always raved about how his father — who everyone called "Smiler" — was so beloved, but I don't think he ever realized that everyone felt the same way about him. Truly such an amazing man.

Ryan Choi's Mother
My mother, Beverly Hom, has been raising me since I was born, and has continually shown unconditional love for both my brother and I. Through life's ups and downs she has always been there for me and given me the support I need to succeed.

Zackary Tiedeman's Friend
Sebastian is a B+ Hero with my nonprofit - The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation which supports and raises awareness for pediatric cancer. Sebastian is someone I don't know incredibly well, but we've had events with him and he is a huge light to others who are battling cancer. He is very smiley and optimistic even though he has battled cancer.
